    Edge Import Bookmarks from Chrome does not work

    Hi,

    To resolve your issue with Microsoft Edge, we suggest that you clear your browsing data. Please follow the steps below:

    • Click on the 3 dots at the upper right corner of Edge.
    • Go to Settings.
    • Go to Clear browsing data.
    • Click on Choose what to clear > Clear.
    • Try to import your bookmarks from Chrome to Microsoft Edge.

    Let us know how it goes.

    Exporting Bookmarks from Edge to Chrome

    As I had already reported on March 16, top of this page.

    Well, it doesn't work for me anymore.

    I deliberately left Edge open to block access to the database. Chrome said that it imported from Edge successfully but no Edge bookmarks appeared. So my immediate thought was that it was importing from the old location which is empty. So I put one bookmark
    in the old location for testing and yet again Chrome said it imported successfully, yet no bookmark.

    I exited Edge to see if it was the cause but again no changes.

    It also appears that Firefox too has taken a turn for the worse, it is now only importing about 20% of all my bookmarks.

    Well, found it:

    Since that post I had been experimenting with EdgeManage to add custom bookmarks, like a 'open-a-folder' shortcut, a JavaScript: URL (aka a bookmarklet) and a shell: command (show desktop) shortcut (the first two work, BTW).

    As it appears the last one broke both Chrome and Firefox bookmark import.

    Also, Chrome doesn't check whether the database is available nor checks whether any bookmarks were imported; it simply always reports success.

    * Someone reported that Edge allegedly does import folder shortcuts from IE favorites toolbar all by itself. I didn't have the pleasure even though I have a whole bunch of them in the Links toolbar.

    Exporting Bookmarks from Edge to Chrome

    After updating to 14393, I cannot import bookmarks from Edge, for Microsoft change the way to storing bookmarks. So this is not helpful any longer.
