    "OpenAL": Safe to Remove?

    Hello.

    I am using Windows 10 Professional, 64-bit. A few weeks ago, the IT person in my office installed a new video card on our PC (AMD ATI Radeon HD 5450). Since then, I have seen OpenAL in the program list.

    Neither I, nor wife, play games on our PC. Is it safe to uninstall OpenAL?

    Thank you.

    :)

    On the same date that OpenAL was installed, the IT person from my office installed a new sound card: Asus Essence STX II. Could it be that OpenAL was installed with the sound card?

    Thank you again.

    You're welcome.

    I would say that's probably where it came from, someone in that other thread I linked said it was installed with their sound card too.

    I would just let it be if it were me.

    Yes, it's a 3D sound software interface. You may never use it, as it's mainly for games. As far as I know, it doesn't use a lot of resources.
