    Operating system not found - DVD Issue


    Hi,

    I'm trying to use an older laptop, but I'm getting a "Operating system not found" error message when I try to use the DVD. In fact I can't even seem to read from it using an old Linux distro that was on it. I've tried replacing with other DVD drives that I know work, but still get the same issue. It's an Acer TravelMate 4062LCi. I know the DVD did work. but suddenly stopped. I don't want the OS that is on there, but I can't install anything else as it is the only way to install - no USB support in the BIOS.

    need list of usb bootable Operating Systems

    I am looking for a good list of operating systems you can run from a usb or dvd.

    If not a list, then folks can just post their top picks.

    I want these to run from the usb/dvd without installing on the system or getting in the way of the system that exists on the hard drive.

    DVD Drive issues.

    The games used to run, now apparently the disks don't even read.

    Go to Device Manager and remove the DVD
    Scan for hardware changes and update driver as OS suggests

    Still not working?

    1) Clean the heads.
    2) Run a diagnostic program on the drive.

    Nothing else has changed about your system aside from the OS?

    Revert to XP Home, assuming you don't find the source of the problem in steps above.

    Hi Sheri,

    We apologize for the inconvenience caused and will assist you.

    The issue might occur if the driver is not compatible. So I suggest you to install the CD/DVD driver in compatibility mode by following the steps provided below:



    • Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.
    • Right click on the setup file of the driver and select
      “Properties”.
    • Select “Compatibility” Tab.
    • Place a check mark next to“Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select operating system from the drop down list.
    • Let the driver install and then check thefunctionality.
