Windows 10: operating system not found

everytime i startup my computer im hit with a black screen saying "operating system not found"

i have absolutely no idea how this happened, but i had windows 10 but somehow when i shut off my computer it ended up being uninstalled for some reason.

I looked online and found a few youtube videos and trustworthy pages that said to download windows 10 onto a USB or disk so i did that and booting the computer from the USB got me back into my computer so rn windows 10 is running off my USB while i type this on my computer.

i proceeded to try to install windows 10 using the same method i installed it onto my USB except directly onto my computer as opposed to onto the USB.

it said it had to restart 7 times to download/install/update it or something so i let it do so using the USB startup to bypass the black screen and windows 10 finished downloading onto my computer it says but it still says that the "operating system not found" message so im confused on what to do next.

I tried looking online for more help and havent been able to find anything. If you could point me to a thread, video, or provide me an answer that would be able to help me resolve this i would greatly appreciate this.

Programs not working


In post 26 there were steps listed to fix the operating system corruption.
Are you able to follow them?
In post 29 was the suggested dism repair command.

To better assist you, do let us the complete message that you receive.

Sometimes, this could be due to two operating system installed in your computer. Just to make sure this is not the case, I suggest you to try the steps below:

1. Press Windows key + R.

2. Type msconfig and press enter.

3. Click the "boot" tab and check if there are any other operating system listed.

4. In addition, change the timeout time to 3 seconds(default)

need list of usb bootable Operating Systems

I am looking for a good list of operating systems you can run from a usb or dvd.

If not a list, then folks can just post their top picks.

I want these to run from the usb/dvd without installing on the system or getting in the way of the system that exists on the hard drive.
