Windows 10: Operating System

Hi,


I have a Acer V3-551-X630 with Windows10 Home Edition. On the previous installment the BSOD was occurring at startup. This happened about 50% of the time. It identified itself as The Bad Pool Caller with no code. I failed to correct it. There were other issues with it. For example if I uninstalled a program it would reappear again the next time I started the computer. I also used a 30 day trial of AVG Internet Security. It continued to function fully well after the trial period. I am not saying one has something to do with the other. I reinstalled OS from a partition. Upon completion it said that Windows was unable to remove all files. I then installed it from a USB drive. The same message did not reappear. However upon checking the files stored on C drive there were 2 Windows old. One dated to the previous installation[A] and the other to the prior one.


I wiped both. File [A] was deleted but reappeared 2 days later. File could not be deleted regardless of what method used. Below are the result in each case. Both said Windows old. The symbol beside this file was now a letter. It changed every time it was wiped. I downloaded DBAN, KillDisk and Diskwipe. Along with Linux. With a DVD in the drive. When attempting to transfer a program it would state insert a DVD. The above programs were uploaded to a USB Drive. The Boot order was changed in the BIOS. However with it inserted at each startup no program above would load. It would just start Windows. I tried an elevated Command Prompt[DOS] in Safe Mode. Then type the following cd enter Del Windows enter. Except after the cd it was not in the local drive directory. There was no reason given. It would start at the C:/ again. When I went into properties in C drive. Then to cleanup system files. Each time I attempted it went about a third of the way then deleted itself.

In post 26 there were steps listed to fix the operating system corruption.
Are you able to follow them?
In post 29 was the suggested dism repair command.

To better assist you, do let us the complete message that you receive.

Sometimes, this could be due to two operating system installed in your computer. Just to make sure this is not the case, I suggest you to try the steps below:

1. Press Windows key + R.

2. Type msconfig and press enter.

3. Click the "boot" tab and check if there are any other operating system listed.

4. In addition, change the timeout time to 3 seconds(default)

need list of usb bootable Operating Systems

I am looking for a good list of operating systems you can run from a usb or dvd.

If not a list, then folks can just post their top picks.

I want these to run from the usb/dvd without installing on the system or getting in the way of the system that exists on the hard drive.
