    Options to fix RAW recovery partitions


    This computer has two RAW recovery partitions.
    Partition 1 was assigned letter p:
    Partition 2 was assigned letter q:

    Chkdsk displayed: The type of the file system is RAW.
    Windows supports re-evaluating bad clusters on NTFS volumes only.

    reagentc /enable displayed: REAGENTC.EXE: The Windows RE image was not found.


    The Windows version is 1809 (OS Build 17763.1282).
    An in place upgrade cannot be performed.

    What options are there to repair the recovery partition #5 Q:


    Would something similar to this work?:

    Options to recover a RAW recovery partition or create a new one

    After fixing the recovery partition it displays NTFS.

    There was no change using Test Disk.
    @jumanji

    What do you think happened with Test Disk?
    It's a 750 GB HD.
    Any other steps so that it can be used as a tool in other threads?

    Does it first need a new drive label?
    Any other steps to get the app to test the recovery partition?

    There were many trial and error steps to fix the RAW recovery partition.

    As the steps were made they were posted into the thread.

    Chkdsk switches ran in Windows RE did not find any problems.
    Chkdsk switches ran in Windows found the recovery partition non NTFS and appeared to not run on the partition.

    Format quick failed.
    Format climbed to 100 but also failed.

    So I don't know how the RAW partition got fixed.

    It appears that TestDisk can be used to assess the C: drive but was not able to assess the recovery partition?

    There was another thread where the OP had deleted the recovery partition and later wanted to recover it.
    The TestDisk results were not displayed.
    Somehow they were able to recover the partition.

    In this and the other thread the recovery partitions displayed enabled.

    Going forward I wanted to have steps that were more definitive.
    At this time it still appears to be trial and error.

    What are the steps via command line?

    This computer has Mini Tool Partition Wizard Pro 11.5.
    It has data recovery and partition recovery in the menu options.

    Chkdsk was ran on all partitions while in windows RE.
    Windows found no problems.
    There was cleaning only.
    It was ran a second time on the recovery partition.

    The recovery partition was still RAW after all chkdsk runs finding no problems.
