I suppose we could always go back to DASD (Direct Access Storage Device) but that would include SD cards, CD/DVDs and flash drives.

 

Yes. I forgot to mention that I'm using old/new Explorer. I tried asking at the forums there, but I was told that the naming is hard wired into the operating system. So I came here to ask where is the specific file that has the names so I can modify it.

 

Well..., there's 2 to 4 .dll files you'd have to modify, based on your architecture, and a couple .mui resource files!
For what it's worth, I wouldn't bother, probably fubar something up!
I wouldn't even try it, and I'm usually willing to try anything! *Wink

 

Oh alright. Well thanks for your response. Good thing that you understand what I'm talking about! I don't even know what happened to the majority of all the responses from earlier! I just like seeing the local Drives separate from everything else in File Explorer with a proper title for them, lol.
