    Hi folks

    those of you with NEW installs of Outlook 2019 and using IMAP --i.e no upgrade from previous versions or using a brand new Windows install will probably find Archive or export to file doesn't function as a .pst file doesn't exist.

    The best thing to do is to create one and then you can copy email to off line. or local folder(s) simply open the .pst file in outlook and copy / move email / folders at will. You can then close it so it won't normally appear in the list. Just open the .pst file from within outlook and do your copy / move etc. Note Outlook uses these days an .ost file - no .pst files by default -- however if you did an UPGRADE from an earlier version of office you'll probably have a .pst file which you can open and use.

    To backup accounts (the settings etc) etc --simply use the registry export mechanism : (This also works for 2019). You need to remember passwords though.

    Change from IMAP to POP3, if supported by the email server, and make sure that "Leave a copy of messages on the server" is checked.

    Otherwise, I wonder if changing where delete items goes, and unsubscribing the folder will work?

    Example is with Gmail and it's All Mail folder, but if not, can create a folder for the the same purpose.

    When I deleted an email in outlook and my webmail got deleted too. I want to keep all the inbox mails from the webmail even I complete deleted in outlook. I spend hrs can't think it out how. Any step by step instruction? I'm using IMAP account btw. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

    Gmail IMAP on Outlook 2019

    I had lots of problems setting up GMAIL IMAP on OUTLOOK 2019. The one thing that solved it for me was setting up via the Control Panel applet (this is mentioned here in one of the earlier posts, apparently there is a long term bug in OUTLOOK) rather than from within OUTLOOK itself...
    Close OUTLOOK. Control Panel/Mail/Email Accounts/New. I remember I also had to define in both GMAIL and OUTLOOK what folders I wanted to Sync. I use both OUTLOOK and MAILWASHER to download mail and I've had no problems in 5 months.
