Windows 10: Outlook.com lockout

I am trying to help a older friend.


3+ years ago he purchased a new laptop. He just kept hitting next and somehow ended up with a @outlook.com email. He has never used it. Wants nothing to do with it. He had ignored all emails since to his yahoo email related to it.


Now, his laptop is locked until he logs into his outlook account. He has tried to reset the password and never receives the recovery email to the @yahoo address on file. But, if he goes through the steps to send the email to another email he gets the 4-digit code.


When he goes down that path the system requires him to include a subject from some email and email address of people he has emailed. He has never used the outlook email. He then gets a standard email he did jot provide enough info.


In short, how can he get into his windows laptop. Can he bypass the outlook.com login? If not, how do you reset a password when the recovery email @yahoo.com is not receiving the recovery email. After many attempts and looking in the spam folder they recovery emails are not there. If a @gmail.com is used then the recovery emails are received. But, can not validate since the @outlook.com account was never used to send/receive emails.

How crazy it is he is close to tossing it in the trash and buying a new one due to a outlook.com email address...

Windows 10 Mobile isn't picking up Outlook.com account

I upgraded my husband's Lumia 640 from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Mobile. His Outlook.com account isn't listed in Accounts under Settings in People and Calendar. I've been through all the steps to add an account, but the Outlook.com account still isn't
listed. Can anyone suggest a workaround for this problem?

We would like to know how exactly you install Windows 10 on your computer.

I suggest you to add the Outlook.com site on the trusted website list in Internet Explorer. Follow the steps provided below:

  Open Internet Explorer.
  
• 
  Click on setting or the gear symbol.
  
• 
  Select Internet Options from the list.
  
• 
  Go to Security tab
  
• 
  Under Trusted Sites, click on the sites button.
  
• 
  Enter the Outlook.com URL and Click on Add button.
  
• 
  Then Click on Close button.

Outlook.com/Hotmail warnings. Bother?

Hi there,

Newly named outlook.com has a nice feature: it tracks the location from where you logon into the e-mail service.
Well, not many months ago I received a warning from them that some intent to log on was made from an unusual location, namely Ireland and some other place, and they suggested to change my password. Which I did.

Now I received again this warning, because there was a logon intent from an Inner China place. Again I changed my password.

Questions of interest:
1) am I being (made) paranoid unnecessarily?
2) does this happen to other mail ISP's but those accounts do not warn me?
3) is this cool and should I move all my mail to outlook.com?
