Windows 10: Over night win10 screensaver slideshow stopped working on 6 windows 10 machines?

All my windows 10 machines have a slideshow screensaver, they all stopped working during the night.

Each machine are on different update schedules so it cannot have anything to do with an update, each machine also hosts the screensaver slideshow locally so it has nothing to do with the files not being present.

I've verified that each machine have the image path and images indexed in the search index.

They all stopped working, something tells me this is somewhat similar to how windows10 search stopped working a few weeks ago when a microsoft server came down, the only way i see the screensaver slideshow stopping working on all 6 machines (3 of them being turned off during the night) is that each time the screensaver runs it needs to connect with some online server that is now offline. I don't see how otherwise it would stop working on all machines even the ones that have been turned off simultanesouly when they are all on different update schedules.

I can verify that the screensaver slideshow worked on all machines yesterday.

Obviously not a huge issue but i am more intrigued how something can just stop working on all devices when the devices have no sync in between and half of them are not even up to date so it cannot be a bug in an windows update.

Ideas?

Screensaver stops working - error preventing slideshow from playing


I have a specific folder in my pictures which I play screensaver slideshow from. My computer will play slideshow for a while (sometimes a few minutes, sometimes 10 minutes), then I get the following message: An error is preventing this slideshow from playing.

I see that this is a ridiculously common occurrence (going back at least to Win 7), but I have yet to find a solution. I've tried multiple suggestions that I've come across while looking into this, but nothing has worked.

Does anyone know of a solution for this? Or, if no solution, are there any good (free) screensaver programs out there I can use to play my pictures in a slideshow?

I have used a version of this for the past 10 yrs w/o any issues on any OS -
Free Slide Show Screen Saver - gPhotoShow Free Edition

To set up: R click desktop/Personalize brings you to the Settings screen below. The folder selection screen will open and you can set timing and random settings, etc

It happens on two Win10 machines, I tried to reset an all screensaver's settings, but it still happens.

Is there any solution for this bug?
