I have a few possible problems with this PC, but first thing that struck me as odd was this.
Earlier today I installed an app off the Windows Store, mainly AccuWeather as I preffered it's live tile plus I tend to use them normally for weathe rreports so it felt right to use it over others, So I installed it, added it to Start menu, and decided to put it on "Wide", I also installed printer drivers which required me to restart my PC to finish installing which was fine by me, however upon relogging in, the tile disapeared. I had just put on the HP Smart live-tile in that same session so it was odd that specific Live Tile dissapeared. After readding it via the Windows Store to Start Menu, this version of the lvie tile showed, with only options to make it Medium/Small and not wide. The name below also shows "P-Appname" with some random characters

On top of that about a week or so ago, I had to Reset my PC since for some reason Windows failed to self repair or recover and DISM couldn't access its partitions, I finally just gave in since I wanted to use my PC so I reset it, luckily alot of my files are on another drive and ssd so it was more reinstalling lost apps and drivers that afternoon, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Now when I first saw this I looked on here for help and a past discussion said to try Windows Apps Troubleshooter, that didn't come up with anything, so I followed more instructions off that page such as using WSReset, and these three commands in admin command prompt

which showed up with no problems so I kept rumaging till I got annoyed at the issue. I saw someone saying to check the Reliability Monitor and this showed up

Few possibly related issues. 60805bef-5cce-482a-8d28-04da56aba9f9?upload=true.png errors every day from the Reset PC day that windows was not properly shut down, so that for me is bringing up flags and I don't know if it is related or not, some older apps which weren't installed on C:// also sometimes works or not works, tends to be just a matter of reinstalling butsince this also meant Office 2016 I was a bummer since I've long lost that product key, however that's another issue, its not just Office that sometimes doesn't work properly, since these specific issues seem to be due to the Windows Reset, it was bugging me that something has happened the night before which caused the issues, and I honestly haven't changed anything with the system, no power cuts or anything, the way I usually turn off this PC is:
    > Shut Down via Start Menu
    > Wait for PCs lights to turn off and for PSU and fans to go totally silent
    > Turned off at wall (left plugged in for next day)

Since that day I've also been getting funny issues with BIOS, not with anything critical, just that it asks for Boot Drive every time, even when I set the C: drive to highest priority and save it to BIOS, so I'm guessing Windows is shutting itself down oddly, BIOS may be at fault though it is updated; or there is another issue that needs to be addressed. I'm not fussed about clicking the drive to boot from every time though that I know isn't normal but saying this PC was so recently reset and there has been more problems brought up then solved that its been a headache and I have to hope everyday that another issue doesn't show up.

What other steps could I try? What could be the possible issues?

I really don't want to buy another PC at this time, I am happy to just ignore using Windows Live tiles, the Applications for it still work, it is more worrying to me that either Windows incorrectly shuts itself down causing these issues or there could be a Hardware failure somewhere. The PC is about 6 years old now come this June and it still does everything I need for it to do well I just don't want problems to come down the line.

    :)

  2. Live tiles not working

    Hi PJ,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Please answer a few questions to narrow down the issue and provide you with better assistance.

    • Is the issue specific to sports app?
    • Did you make any significant hardware or software changes to the computer prior to this issue?
You might be referring to Live tiles that get refreshed in a few seconds to show a new picture or information. I would suggest turn the live tiles on and off and check if the issue persists:

    • Right click on the app tile on the start menu.
    • Click Turn Live Tile off.
    • Press f5 to refresh the desktop.
    • Right click on the app tile again on the start menu.
    • Click Turn Live Tile on.

Hope this information is helpful. Do let us know if you need any further assistance, we'll be glad to assist you.
