    Package - Create custom installation for Microsoft Security Essentials


    Hi,


    I have been asssigned to create package for Microsoft Security Essentials v4.10.209.0. There are few requirements set by client for the installation:

    1 Uncheck the option for "If no firewall is turned on, turn on Windows FirewallRecommended"

    2 Uncheck the option for "Turn on automatic sample submission"

    3 Uncheck the option for "Scan my computer for potential threats after getting the latest updates"

    4 Installed silently


    I have tried search everywhere but found only silent install and uninstall command which i assume it installed the MSE by default settings.

    I have tried using repackage but some error shows up indicate that error on copying the lock files, therefore i will not using that method.

    Is there any command to applied the custom installation as I mentioned on requirement above?


    Tools i am using is Installshield.

    Windows 10 Windows Defender versus Microsoft Security Essentials

    Hi Bryan,

    Microsoft Security Essentials was upgraded to Windows defender and it was a default security software from Windows 8. You cannot have both as they are one.

    Since you get this annoying popup at the startup i suggest you to disable any Microsoft Security Essentials entries in Startup tab.

    • Open the Task manager. by pressing Press CTRL+Shift+ESC.
    • click on Startup tab
    • Right click on Microsoft Security Essentials entry and click on Disable.

    Restart the computer and check if that helps.
