I have a weird memory leak being caused by my paged pool. It's not urgent, as it only increases to 2GB and my PC runs fine without that memory (it has 14 to spare), but the deeper I've searched into this issue, the stranger it's become.

I've already discussed this with the Avast! developers on their own forums, falsely assuming that it was just their program causing the leak, but further research has made it clear that this isn't just an Avast-related issue.

Things I've noticed cause the pool to go up:
    - Antivirus scans (Avast! or otherwise) always bring it up to 2.0GB, then it will fluctuate between 1.8GB and 2.4GB until the scan finishes.
    - World of Warcraft causes it to go up by about 200MB.

    - Running an sfc scan increases it.
    - Right-clicking a large folder to see how big it is causes it to go up.
    - On the other hand, playing certain "large" games SEEMS to make it go down by about 200-400MB.

When I restart, it always starts up somewhere between 220MB and 275MB and stays there until one of these things happen. I might be miscalculating, but it looks like after booting up my PC from a full shut down, it starts around 700MB. The Avast! developers told me it has something to do with file access drivers, but I don't know what that could mean or how to fix it. I've never seen it above 2.4GB, and it doesn't seem to be getting any worse.

    :)

(Paged Pool size is 2.0 GB right now with no programs running foreground)

i'm using latest windows 10 build 15063.332 (clean installed from bios)

    PC Model: ASUS X555LN Notebook

all drivers are installed from manufacturer's website.

    BIOS is UEFI

hard disk is in GPT partition format

using avast free antivirus, no virus detection on current hard drive

that is all the info i can provide right now....

is increasing paged pool size normal?

if it is a problem, what can possibly be the root cause of this problem?

  3. Paged Pool Memory Increasing Over Time

    hello.

    tried clean boot, no success

uninstalled third party antivirus, no success.

paged pool memory size is still increasing.

is there a way to find out which program causing the memory leak ?

    or,

do you have any another solution?

Windows 10 Paged Pool Memory Increasing Over Time

    PC info: ASUS X555LN Notebook
    RAM: 8 GB
    OS: Windows 10 (Build: 14393.0)

i use my pc for long period of time (~10 hrs a day). don't remember ever faced this HUGE RAM CONSUMPTION issue for over 1.5 year.

now, my ram consumption gradually increases over time. with no programs running foreground, ram is 60-70%. shutting down or signing out doesnt play any effect. only after a restart, ram shows 15-20%, and then it gradually increases.

comparing with others pc, i found that "paged pool" memory is increasing over time but never decreases or stay constant.
reinstalled windows 10 (rs2 & rs1) a few times, updated all drivers, still no success.

(the screenshot says 840mb paged pool, as i captured it after a few moment after restart.
it gradually increases up to 4.5GB or more and total ram shows about 65% )
