Windows 10: PaperPort 14.5 Scanner UI window "hides" behind main PaperPort window

OK -- thanks to help from y'all, I got PaperPort up and running on my new Windows 10 laptop -- upgraded from 14 to 14.5, added the available patch, and changed the default browser in the registry back to Internet Explorer from my preferred Firefox. Initially, it functioned "normally" -- if I had "Display scanner dialog box" selected, on pressing "Scan," the Scanner UI window came up in front of the "main" PaperPort window. However, all of a sudden, the UI dialog window would show for a moment, and then go "behind" the main PaperPort window. I have to reduce the size of the main window so I can see a piece of the UI window and "grab" it. Interestingly, if I have previously selected a custom brightness/contrast setting from within the UI, that little box remains visible in front of the main window! As I have been installing a lot of applications, I can't say whether this behavior began after installing any specific item. Thoughts? Anyone else had this situation occur?

Compatibility problem with Paperport Version 14 in Windows 10

Paperport 14.5 Professional

I have a Brother DCP L2540DW printer/scanner. It came with Paperport that worked with Windows 7 but not Windows 10 Pro.

I just purchased Paperport 14.5 which works with windows 10 pro.

My problem is when I am logged on as the administrator Paperport works fine. However, when I log on as a standard user, Paperport does not "see" a scanner.

As the administrator I shared the printer and scanner installed.

As a standard user I can print but I cannot scan with Paperport.

Any help is appreciated.

 

Windows 10 PaperPort

According to Nuance, only Nuance PaperPort 14.5 with Patch 1 is supported under Windows 10. If you haven't installed it, you could do so to see if it starts working again.
