  1. Partitioning Flashdrive

While I understand how to partition Hard Drives, I have questions about doing the same thing with a Flash Drive.

    1. I assume I can partition the Flash drive using the windows administrative tools.

    2. Can I create multiple bootable partitions on the Flash Drive?

    3. How do I do this and be able to select which partition boots?

FYI I have three different OSs on two different Hard drives (Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit, Windows 10 Pro 32 Bit and Ubuntu 18.04 64 Bit)

The community was very helpful in teaching me how to do this and I hope they can advise me again.

    Thank you very much.

    :)

    W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

    - press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
    - diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
    - list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
    - select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
    - clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
    - create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
    - exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
    - click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that

    Partitioning Flashdrive

Bootable Linux partition alongside an NTFS partition on USB flashdrive

On a 128 GB flashdrive, in order to boot Linux from the drive I created two ext4 partitions (/ and /home, Linux installed on the root partition) and a swap partition as well as a NTFS partition that I would like to use when I'm using the flashdrive on a booted Windows system.

    Here are the partitioning details:

How would I manage to have the bootloader automatically recognize the ext4 root partition when booting from the flashdrive while having Windows automatically recognize the NTFS partition when I insert the flashdrive on a booted Windows system?

Currently, I need to switch back and forth between the partition that is accessible (with BOOTICE) depending whether or not I'm using the flashdrive for booting Linux or as a data flashdrive on Windows. Choosing the NTFS partition to be the accessible one in Windows means Linux won't boot and choosing the ext4 root partition to be the accessible one means Linux boots just fine, but Windows in turn won't show me the NTFS partition

    Update

I was asked to provide additional information about the HDD/SDD that Windows is intalled on.

It's a Windows 8.1 installation as shipped by Dell (XPS 15) that was upgraded to a Windows 10 installation. As I didn't install it myself, I'm not exactly sure about details such as UEFI etc.

Here are the partitioning details of that drive:
