Windows 10: Paste function not working in h/d search bar

In almost every case the cut and paste functions work perfectly. EXCEPT in any hard drive window (internal or external), I cannot paste a copied item. I CAN paste in the search box if I use Ctrl+V. If I right click on the "Search This PC" or "Search (hard drive name), what I see is the box containing - restore, move, size, minimize, maximize, close. This is extremely inconvenient. Oh, this is a new WIN 10 instillation. I've had a few other items that have, so far, been worked out. This one is driving me crazy! Thankx for the help. Search Bar/Cortana

From the description, I understand that you are still receiving the pop up notifications, despite having disabled the search functionality in windows 10.

Steps to disable the Search Bar

• Right click on the task bar.
• Select the "Search" option.
• Select "Disable."

However, if the above steps don't work out, perform the below suggested steps and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Open a CMD window started as Administrator.

Repair corruption: Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth.

Run this command next: Sfc /scannow

Now run these two commands:

PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

D drive

Hi,

Based on the details you have provided us, it appears that there might be some corrupted contents on the said partition. We can also consider that this is caused by a virus.

For us to check if a certain virus is hiding your files, kindly follow the steps below:

• Type Command prompt in the search bar.
• Type-in the following command:
  
  attrib -h -r -s /s /d D:\*.*
• Press Enter to execute the command.

If you think that there is nothing important stored in it, then we suggest that you reformat your D drive so that you can use the free space for important files.

You can follow the steps below to start with the process:

• Click on the File Explorer.
• Select This PC.
• Right-click on your D drive, then click on Format.
• Follow the on-screen process to finish formatting the partition.

Cannot type full word in windows search, edge address bar or search bar.

I have tried the suggested DSIM actions previously without success.

AS mentioned, if I paste the text string (or url) into the search/address bars, then the function works.

What I cannot do is type a text string into the bars, as I start typing, a couple of characters are shown in the predicative drop down, and as I type more, the original characters are removed and 2 ~ 3 new characters are then in the drop down list which
constantly flashes as if searching.

This is extremely unusual behavior and also difficult to describe other than to say I cannot type a full text string with any more than 3 characters at a time making the search function totally useless EVER SINCE THE CREATOR UPDATE.
