  1. Pc Boot Problems

I recently bought a new computer which I assembled myself, keeping only my GTX 980 and old HDD with windows being installed on an SSD. It has an i7-10700k, 8gb x 2 ddr4 3200 memory, MSI z490 motherboard and the previous listed parts. The motherboard has a default overclock of 4.8 mhz from the base 3.8 max ive heard is 5.3.

For the most part it has worked well with a few small exceptions and strange issues. Firstly, I once put it to sleep and forgot about it until the next day, when I came to turn it on the power indicator was not breathing like it does when asleep and pressing the power button would not turn it on. I think what fixed it in the end was turning the power strip the pc was connected to off and on, although im not sure as I tried many things.

Next, a few times now, when I go to Power->Shutdown Ill come back a few minuets later to find the rgb lights still on as if I set it to sleep which I thought i mightve done on accident the first time but after this happened multiple times when I was sure I was careful to click shutdown I have no doubt that it wasnt a miss click.

Finally, today a guest at my house was playing a game when all if the sudden the monitors ceased receiving input. The pc fans were loud which is unusual even when playing a demanding game which could very well be due to the fact that I was playing a game but it was not a particularly demanding game so idk. I could not get the pc out of this state and opted for a restart instead. When restarting, the monitors showed the boot screen and then nothing. I looked at the motherboard and the VGA light was on. I turned it off and it would not turn back on.

So there it is all laid out. I wonder if my problems are being caused by system insecurities stemming from the motherboard default overclock or if my videocard is going bad as it is 5 years old. If anyone has insight or could help in anyway it would be much appreciated.

    :)

  2. PC wont boot up (No POST, No Video)

I recently installed a new Asus M5A99X Evo r2.0. The motherboard green LED lights up and the case and cpu fans spin. But there is no video when its hooked up to my monitor.

    Steps that i have tried:
"No POST", "system won't boot", and "no video output" troubleshooting checklist

Made sure all connections are properly connected.

    Flashing the CMOS

    Tested the PSU

Followed all steps in the user manual

If there are any links that you guys can point me to or suggestions that could help it would be highly appreciated. Thank you

Windows 10 1709 System Restore problems...

That seems to be an attempt at Option 2 in the tutorial, which requires you to
    a. Boot to a command prompt (Did you?)
    b. You then seem to be mixing steps 3,4 and 5, thus your command is incorrect.

I suggest Option 1 is easier.

If you still have problems, please repost listing each specific step and saying which option from the tutorial you are using. Thanks.

    Pc Boot Problems

    Problem at boot up

Okey, ill try to remove my oc, but its really hard to tell if it will fix the problem, because as i said it happens randomly, not on every boot up. If its my oc, what might be the problem? My pc is also new, its almost 2 months old.
