Windows 10: PC Crashing after closing a game

Hi all, I'm having an issue with my PC where it keeps crashing after closing games. It runs absolutely fine with no issues whilst playing, alt-tabbing, doing everything else like browsing the net or streaming etc. It ONLY ever happens when I close a game. Everything just freezes and becomes non-responsive. Sometimes it automatically shuts down on its own, other times I have to do a hard shutdown by holding or pressing the power button on the tower. It seems to be fairly inconsistent and I can go through a bout of it happening every single time, and then not happening at all for a week and then

Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

some games are crashing when i close them

it depends on the computer. some computers ignore the access violation and nothing happens. others catch it and the game crashes

anyway if you want to close the game then open the task manager and do end task for the process of the game. the game wont do an access violation if you do that
