Windows 10: PC doesn't sleep even after I press 'Sleep' on start. Help

    PC doesn't sleep even after I press 'Sleep' on start. Help


    After pressing 'Sleep' from the start, the display immediately goes black and nothing happens, it basically just only turns off the display and does not go into sleep mode.

    And the display remains off till I move my mouse, where I can see the start again, right where I stopped before pressing sleep.

    This doesn't happen always, but 80% of the time this is how it goes.

    When it does sleep tho, theres no issues of it ever waking up by itself or whatsoever.

    Running on Windows 10 20H2, but this behavior was present when I was on 20H1 too.

    Any fix appereciated.

    Sleep

    Hi,

    This may happen due to its power plan. A power plan is a collection of hardware and system settings that manages how computers use and conserve power. For this, we suggest that you reset and restore power plans to its default. kindly follow these steps:

    • Open the Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Copy and paste the command below into the command prompt, and press
      Enter      :
      • powercfg -restoredefaultschemes
    • Close the Command Prompt window, and then restart your PC to apply the changes.

    After that, go to Power & sleep settings
    by typing it into the Windows Search. Check the When plugged in, PC goes to sleep after
    settings is set to Never.

    I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

    • Click on Start>Settings>System.
    • In the left navigation pane, click on Power & sleep.
    • In the right pane, select the time limit for the system to go to sleep from the drop down list.

    So, when i go to start - shutdown and press Sleep is it in Hybrid sleep mode instead sleep?
