  1. PC Freezing a few times/hour - Unable to find cause

Somewhat of a long winded post because no one has been able to help figure out what the problem is. I have posted on a few different forums and tried many solutions.

    The problem:

My PC will intermittently freeze for up to 5 seconds and it occurs maybe 1 or 2 times per hour. If there is audio playing then it typically buzzes for the duration of the freeze. Sometimes if I am playing a game it will crash me out to the desktop. The problem has happened both when playing a game and when just browsing on chrome.

    My current PC setup:

    Windows 10 Education

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8yGRXP (I have since switched out the GTX 1080 for an RTX 2060)

I am running 3 monitors connected to my graphics card (DVI/HDMI/displayport)

Solutions that I have tried (in no particular order):

    - Reinstalled windows

    - Swapped out my GPU

    - Uninstalled and reinstalled the graphics drivers (multiple methods)

    - I ran "memtest86" overnight and it returned no errors

    - Ran "windows memory diagnostic" tool with no errors

    - I ran "FurMark" to test my GPU with no errors.

    - Updated BIOS to most recent version

    - Removed the overclock on my CPU

    - Uninstalled corsair link (this kept popping up in the logs that it "stopped working" so I just removed it. Logs are below.

    - Swapped out my GTX 1080 for an RTX 2060 on 1/24/19 and the problems still occurred.

  2. PC Keeps Freezing At Completely Random Times

    Hello,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I can imagine the inconvenience you have experienced. I will definitely help you with this.

I suggest you to disable the third party security software (if any installed) temporarily and check if it is cause to issue.

    Disable Antivirus:

Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you
should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Kindly follow the below steps and check if you are able to fix the issue.

    Step 1:

I suggest you to run the System maintenance
troubleshooter and check if it fixes the issue:

    Follow the steps given below:

    • Press Windows + X keys on the keyboard and select
      Control Panel

    • Type Troubleshooting in the search bar on the
      Control Panel.

    • Click on View all
      on the left navigation pane.

    • Click on System maintenance.

    • Click on Advanced on the
      System maintenance
dialog box and click on Run as administrator (Enter the credentials if required).

    • Click on Next and follow onscreen instruction complete the
      System maintenance troubleshooter.

If issue persist, Kindly follow the below given steps and check if it helps:

    Run these commands:

    • Press Windows key and type Powershell
in search, right click on it and Open as administrator .

    • Type the following command in Powershell and hit enter:

      Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
Also, please refer to the link by Andre Da Costa on Windows 10 freeze which gives suggestions on how to troubleshoot on this scenario.

  3. PC Build Steps

Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval
    • Install system in case
      • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
    • Turn on PC
    • setup HDD
    • run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
      • run realtemp at the same time
    • While in Prime95 test
      • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
      • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
      • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!
    What do you guys think??

  4. PC Freezing a few times/hour - Unable to find cause

    Borderlands freezes and thaws

I'm positive the steps I took above fixed it. I went through 10 rounds in the underdome (well over an hour of gameplay) without a single freeze. Previously, I couldn't play 15 minutes without at least one freeze.
