    PC Freezing and Restarting After Windows Reinstallation and SFC Scan


    I recently scanned my PC and found 30 viruses. After trying to fix the issues, I factory reset my PC, but it froze at 9%. I had to force restart, which I believe corrupted the installation. I bought Windows install media from Amazon, reinstalled Windows, but now the PC keeps freezing, restarting on its own, and occasionally giving me a blue screen saying Windows ran into issues.I’ve tried troubleshooting via the blue screen and ran sfc /scannow, which found an error the first time, but the problem persists. Any advice on fixing this frustrating experience?

    PC Freezes Then Restarts.

    This is my last call for help before i'm sending the PC in for a check.

    The PC freezes then just restarts, no bluescreen. However when i check eventviewer for logs this error appears:

    "The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000116 (0xffffa70258a55320, 0xfffff806666c1660, 0xffffffffc000009a, 0x0000000000000004)."

    I've tried reinstalling GPU drivers, sfc scan / repair. Cleaned the PC from dust and even went as far as reinstalling windows.

    SFC scan and DISM restorehealth scan

    1. After the sfc scan, restart

    2. Run the restorehealth scan and restart after the scan is finished

    3. Run the sfc scan again and it will say: no integrated violations found

    Does those steps fix the Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them?

    System freezes after restart on Windows 10

    Hi Jim,

    Thank you for responding.

    We appreciate your effort in resolving the issue.

    As you have tried most of the above troubleshooting steps like Clean boot, SFC scan, installing pending updates, DISM and still the issue persists, try the below and check.

    Do let us know the following to assist you better:


    • Are you able to access desktop?

    • Is there any error code/ error message when the system freezes?

    • Have you installed any third party anti-virus software on your computer?
    I suggest you to Try to log-in with Safe mode, restart the computer in safe mode and check if the issue persists.
