Windows 10: pc hard crashes on event 10016

For about a year now, at irregular intervals ranging from daily to monthly, my Windows 10 pc has been turning itself off with no BSOD. Can be while reading a simple web page in Chrome or running a graphically intensive game, or anything in between. Upon restart, in Event Viewer, the only event recorded aside from the Kernel-Power event 41 is the DCOM event 10016, of which I have 3 that look exactly as what many others have posted before, with a particular Windows component (RuntimeBroker, AppId 15c20b67-12e7-4bb6-92bb-7aff07997402) being denied Local Activation permission.


In Component Services, I can see that the exact RuntimeBroker service identified (there are 2 different components with the same name - not sure if this is normal) has been correctly modified to allow Local Activation for all users in the local admin group, of which my user is one. So the configuration reported by Component Services is logically irreconcilable with the error cause reported in Event Viewer.


Any thoughts on what to do besides reinstall Windows much appreciated.

Hi ilia,

In general, the event 10016 can safely be ignored because they do not adversely affect functionality
and are by design. When your computer crashed, did you encounter a blue screen error and a stop code? Have you tried any other troubleshooting steps yet?

every time that event 10016 happening my pc crash/freaze. and only once the blue screen with the smile that saying sorry.

so what can I do from stoping this event
