Windows 10: PC lagging and stuttering during network traffic (Win 10)

HOLY HELL THAT DID IT!!!

Thank you so much, had been dealing with this problem for the last few weeks and had tried everyones suggestions to no avail but disabling port scans finally fixed it. Thank you so much, I could kiss you.

 

Just came across this while searching for a solution to this issue. Disabling the network scan blocking in BitDefender appears to have resolved the issue for me as well. I submitted a ticket to Bitdefender.

 

Fixed it so far. WOW THAT was soooooooo annoying! Thank you.

OMG you have no idea how much this issue was driving me mad the last few weeks!!!! I was going insane!!! Tried everything from patches to driver updates, downgrades, etc - and was on the cusp of formatting my entire system!!!

I CANT BELIEVE it was BitDefender the entire time. the stuttering problem seriously made me want to blow my brains out. I want to join the other poster in tag-teaming you right now.

No joke, I almost bought a $2k Mac Desktop because of this problem. How the hell did you figure out that it was Bitdefender causing the problem? That was NOWHERE on my radar. I tried different browsers, drivers, clean install, disable hardware acceleration, everything. God...what a relief!

You sir have saved my sanity !! So far turning off the Port Scans option in BitDefender seems to be working.
I test-downloaded a big file earlier, went into a game and there was no frame-rate stop or game stutter.

This as been doing my head in for months now. Thank you so much for solving it !!

 

MY SOLUTION:

I can confirm that changing the Default Format option alleviated the issue in my case but has not solved it completely. I'm using Windows 8.1, Realtek onboard sound and drivers. It appears that setting the highest available format quality results in least frequent stuttering, however in my case, at the below cited selected format, the stuttering is still present at times.

Go: Control Panel > Sound > Playback > Speakers (or your preferred sound output device) > Properties > Advanced > Here change Default Format to: 24 bit 192000 Hz (Studio Quality) > Click Apply

New information: Choosing a lower quality Default Format - 16 bit 48000 Hz (DVD Quality) has solved the issue completely. If you are an audiophile or get a compulsive nagging sense of unease when you feel things aren't perfect, this solution might not be for you. I however am enjoying it.

 

I just wanted to say thank you for pointing out that the issue was AV related. I recently reinstalled my computer installed a new wireless card, and for the first time, Avira antivirus. When the stuttering began I thought it was due to the new wireless card not being able to handle the load (previously I had wired connnection), but it became very annoying recently. I even couldn't watch a youtube video for more than 5 minutes without the sound being delayed.
Having read this thread I removed Avira, and the problems were gone immediately. Now I'm using Windows Defender AV and so far it works like a breeze.

 

I don't have bit defender, is there any different settings I should do?, thanks
