Windows 10: Pc only working properly in safe mode

Which repair did you perform?

What was done with Adobe?
Which software was installed?
Which software was uninstalled?

 

I installed adobe after effects Photoshop Lightroom muse.....didn’t repair, just uninstalled them, but I installed them in a different location from with CC prefs......

The adobe appears to be pirated ?

 

It was a trial, or so,I thought, but not from adobe site, found somewhere else, lucky I uninstalled it....

 

The website has strict rules about piracy.
Please post the trial info about Adobe.

 

Sorry got absolutely no idea as all my browsing history has gone, I just searched for adobe products, assumed they must be a trial, as they are certainly not free...but they are gone now, will use free alternatives anyway, can’t afford £££££s for adobe stuff.......
found a long time ago that there are some really good programs either free or for a few ££s......my needs are not high so they work perfectly.....e.g. use Avast AV....for years works perfectly....
so just need to sort out my system manager GPedit etc problems......

Thought I fixed it..

...I checked the registry entry for taskmngr in policies but found the entry missing , so created a new entry and set it to 1 (on) now that works as does gpedit and my apps run by clicking without needing run as admin


Restrted the pc and not working again, will check registry again later

 

It seems like some OS files went missing and IOBit uninstaller caused this. I highly suggest to do a clean installation of Windows.

But let's check what the others can suggest. Re-installation is a very time-consuming process (especially on a slow connection).

 

I'd suggest downloading Windows 10 ISO (time to do that depends on your internet speed but between 5 minutes or perhaps or an hour). You can do it overnight assuming you don't have a data cap (and that cap is not affected by net neutrality).

Then do a repair install (depends on your hardware but for me about 20 minutes for a i5 2010 notebook).

Assuming you have downloaded the latest Windows 10 ISO there is no way repair install should take more than an hour.

 

Did this, it the problem wasn’t resolved.....can’t think why, in fact it seemed to cause more problems.....kept getting windows script host windows pop up

I found the taskmgr reg key was missing, created one and all was perfect, until I restarted the pc and the registry entry ‘ system’ was missing....fortunately I had a back up of the registry when I added the taskmgr entry so merged that back....
still don’t know,if it’s fixed, ran malware bytes and it found several entries which it quarantined....will leave this post open and see what happens over the next few days, also some installed programs said something was missing when launched....so,have reinstalled these and are now ok...

something screwed up up my system, maybe iobit, I don’t know for sure...

worse case i will make a note of all,installed apps, back up all my files and reinstall windows.......really really don’t want to do that though

 

My thoughts and opinion.

After a IObit program has attacked your system a Clean Install is necessary.
It would be a lot quicker. You could spend weeks trying to figure out all the problems.

IObit is some chop stick company.
I'm new to Windows 10 but on the Seven Forum their are several threads, some over a 100 post trying to fix a system that had IObit products.
Nearly all, to the best of my memory did Clean Installs to fix their problems.

So my thinking, their is a good chance IObit is also stealing things off of computers that their products are installed on. "Calling Home" with bank account, credit card, and password information.
I can't prove it, but it is my suspicion.

will pass the info on thanks.....I did get a file from iobit to ‘ remove all traces of iobit software as I said I had trouble reinstalling...
goodness knows what that program might do !!!

 

There are lots of shady companies offering "suspicious software". To name a few: IOBit, Bytefence, some of Auslogics portfolio, etc

For a system that seems to be compromised as the OP one, I would do a clean install asap.
