Windows 10: Pc only working properly in safe mode

Yup. If repair install doesn't work and new user doesn't work that is the only option.

(How did you like series XII? Bought BritBox just so I wouldn't have to wait for the DVD!)

Still have problems, tried everything, then gave up formatted my HDD and clean installed windows 10 pro....everything works fine....installed a few apps, then still ok so made a Macrium disk image....did this in stages, after installing 2-3 programs I did another image....the most recent backup worked perfectly, but when I started it a few days later I saw a message from glary software advising of an update, I chose to “ don’t remind me” but thereafter the problems came back....google chrome msconfig doesn’t open, task manager. Using ctrl ,alt del doesn’t work ( opening a command prompt then typing task manager works ) gpedit doesn’t work unless I run as admin.....even revo uninstaller won’t run unless as admin....this is with a clean boot also.....but all works ok in safe mode......
decided to try and cure what I had, ran sfc scannow, reported no errors and 3 dism procedures again reported as perfect.....will try window repair as a last option, as I do have several backups that work.....can’t identify which program causes the issue as it seems to happen randomly......maybe I will go,back to a stable windows, lave it for a week, test it every day and then add one program only....

unless from what I have said it rings a bell with someone....

ps I am sure I used to run msconfig and gpedit directly from the search bar, just by pressing enter.....

Thanks, for now have restored an image when I was half way through reinstalling and everything perfect. Will leave for a week, testing each day, if ok will install one program only, and set a restore point and test for a week......never had this issue before, but I will track the problem down.....
