You guys are great here. I really do owe you all! I have one more question, if you don't mind. I know my psu fan won't spin unless it's under a certain load. Is there anyway to produce a load as such to testing purposes before adding everything in the case?

You can run a CPU stress test, but I wouldn't advise that. Usually the stock Intel CPU Cooler is not able to keep it cool enough to do that. Make sure you have a good CPU Temp monitoring program. You can try a simple virus scan which should put the CPU under enough stress to make the fan speed up. You can also check under the monitoring in BIOS for a different CPU Fan setting. I don't use Gigabyte so am nt familiar, but you usually have different settings for the CPU fan such as silent, aggressive or balanced.

Pc receives power but does not boot.

I would also look at the advanced power settings in Windows and make sure the processor cooling policy is set to Active.

Yeah, it's set to active. The virus scan isn't getting the psu fan to spin. It spun on start up the stopped. Again, it is a feature built into the psu. I just wanted to simulate the work load to make sure it will spin when needed.

OK, do you have CPUz? Make certain you have a CPU temp program running. DO NOT overheat the CPU. Open CPUz, Go to the Bench tab with the CPU Temp program open, click on the stress button. When you do, your CPU will run a 100%, the stress button you clicked will change to a stop button. When it starts, your CPU Temps will rise very high, very quickly. Click the stop button if Temps start getting too high. Do Not let it run long at all and keep a close watch on your temps.

You won't have 12 threads. Realize you are doing something hazardous here.

To be safe, I would stop it if it gets to 70°C

Yeah, I had to step out. I haven't ran the stress test yet. I'll be home shortly.

I was afraid it messed up. Realize it can be a little dangerous. What do your temps run during normal use?

There has been progress since my last post! I suspect your old PSU may be OK - you can do the checks mentioned above to check it.

It seems your problem was a corrupted BIOS? You should certainly load the BIOS defaults and consider reflashing the BIOS to the latest stable version. If you have a fancy dual BIOS Gigabyte motherboard like mine, it might already have recovered from the backup BIOS. I would check the BIOS version to ensure you are using the right version.

I once had a corrupted BIOS due to a power glitch/surge. It's possible you had a similar problem which rendered the PC unbootable.

I don't have cpuz installed. I usually use speccy to monitor Temps. Right now cpu is running at 23c and mobo 35c. If I remember correctly, unload load it ran at about 60-70c? I'm not 100% sure on that.

Check your BIOS for another setting for your CPU Cooler fan. You should have one. If you are talking about the PSU fan, that only deals with the PSU temp and running a stress test won't affect that significantly.

You might also want to try the excellent freeware program SpeedFan. If the program can recognize the temperature sensors and fan controls in your laptop/tablet, there's an excellent chance it will let you manage as you'd like to. Give it a try, and see what happens.

Should be the last update here. We're up and running! Everything looks fine.

    Current temps
    CPU 42c
    GPU 58c
    HDD 40c
    MOBO 46c

The PSU fan is spinning at this temp. I'll keep an eye on it while gaming to see where we are.Going to monitor for a week before returning the EVGA PSU. Any other questions before marking this as solved?
