    Pc screen is black with a cursor


    I just recently built a new pc, and im trying to log into the computer, after doing so there is a black screen with the cursor showing. There isnt even a task bar. I tried hard restarting, and I also tried restarting system.exe. Troubleshooting didn’t even work. I used CMD and it found corrupted files, and fixed them, but the screen is still the same. Now im looking at the other devices tab in Device Manager, and it says PCI Device and SM Bus Controller, they all have a yellow icon next to them. Now im looking in PCI Device Properties and the device status says, “The drivers for this device are not installed. Code 28, There are no compatible drivers for this device, To Find a driver for this device, click Update Driver. When I tried updating the driver through the online button and the search my computer button they werent able to update them. Could this be why im having issues? What should I do?

    Hi, I am prajwal , my PC is facing a problem.when I installed drivers in my PC, after that screen had become black with cursor , I could not able to do anything, I can't see task manager too.So I want to format my PC.But I want to back up all my stuffs.What and how I should do plz suggest me.

    Sorry to know that you are unable start Windows 10 as it is stuck with Black screen and cursor. I will certainly help you.

    This issue might occur if the display drivers goes corrupted or the startup files are damaged.

    I suggest you to follow the steps recommended by Amit Kumar on September 24, 2015
    on similar issue from the following link and check if it resolves the issue.

    • Were you able to get to the desktop screen after you restarted the system?
    • When the screen was blank, were you able to see the cursor on the screen?
    • Did you get any error code or error message?
