I was thinking that I could have a 'Software development' user and a 'Content Creation' user account on my new Windows 10 3950X Workstation PC. My other idea was to have one user account, but create custom Program File folders for the different types of applications, to at least keep them better organized and accessible. Would love to hear from anybody who has experience using a Windows system for dual-use, or any other opinions as well.

    Avid Protools 9 System Requirements

    Guys,

I want to build a system (Desktop) for my friend who intends to do professional recording and editing of audio using avid protools 9. The system specs indicate a Xeon powered system. But the laptop specs also include an i7920 and even a core 2Duo.

My question is would Protools 9 run smooth on i7950 powered system? Any of u guys running this or have suggestions, please let me know!!

    Cheers,
    Shiv

  3. windows 10 and protools 8... will it work?

I understand there has been compatibility issues with protools and win8, but has anyone had any success with protools 8 and win10? Would love to hear if you have any experience as like the idea of win10, but afraid to upgrade from win7 which works well.
    Many thanks

    PC Build Steps

Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval
    • Install system in case
      • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
    • Turn on PC
    • setup HDD
    • run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
      • run realtemp at the same time
    • While in Prime95 test
      • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
      • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
      • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!
    What do you guys think??
