Windows 10: PC will not shutdown or hybernate (only restarts) since 7 to 10 upgrad

I have a desktop that I ran the update on from windows 7 to windows 10.

When I go to shutdown it appears to begin the shutdown process. However, after a few moments with black screens the PC shows the BIOS splash screen and begins to start windows.
If I leave the PC alone for a while, it goes to the login screen, where it attempts to sleep only to end up right back at the login.

I have tried
- Turning off fast startup - Doing this results in apple sys error on restart (I do not have iTunes installed)
- Disabling wakeup by keyboard, network devices, and mouse.
- Turning off quick start in bios

I am now wondering if a clean install is my only option, or if there is some other way of keeping windows 10... just having it work properly.

Windows 10 restart problem

Hi,

I had problem on my win. 8.1 that after few days in which i used my PC - I did not shutdown but i get it only in hybernate ... And if i wanna restart my PC - it did not work - i hope that update to windows 10 solve this problem but it's not.

What should I do?

 

Fast start up not working..

i have windows 10 pro when i freshly upgraded from windows 7 the fast start up was working correctly but later few days back when I shutdown my laptop and then started again it took time .. Although hybernation and fast start up both are enabled ... PLEASE

So I have been tinkering, and I did what I should have done in the very beginning; I installed the usb driver from the manufacturer of the motherboard's website.

Since there was no Windows 10 driver, I used the 8.1 64. I have now had two successful shutdowns.

I see now that the processors have a Microsoft driver from 2009, so I am thinking I will install the 2013 chipset driver from the manufacturer of the motherboard's website.

I may just leave well enough alone though, as it feels pretty good to have my pc working again!
