Windows 10: PC won't stop updating, getting 0xc1900101 error, troubleshooter says I have no updates...

Hi all.

I'm getting constant requests to restart my PC to update. When I do so, it gets to the point where the windows logo is on the screen with the loading circle - presumably, installing the update - and then the PC reboots and loads into windows as normal. I get told that the update failed with an error of 0xc1900101, which google says is driver issues and I should run the update troubleshooter to find out which driver.


But when I run the troubleshooter, it says that it's having a technical problem, then that I don't have any updates pending, and finally suggests posting on here.


Thoughts?

Vista x64 won't download updates?

The last updates on my home desktop are dated 16th June.
I've powered it on some 3 or 4 times since then, but nothing was downloaded automatically as per settings.

I tried the manual update from the CP but I get an error code 80070002.

I did the troubleshooting suggested (i.e. stop the Windows Update service, delete the temporary update files, restart the Windows Update service, and then try to check for Windows updates again) but I still keep getting the same error code, even after rebooting *Confused

What gives?

Unable to upgrade one of the system to Windows 10 Update Error 0xC1900101 - 0x20004

Thank you for the reply. I read both of those threads already.

1. Resetting BIOS. I flashed BIOS to the latest version. Currently running default settings. No change.

2. Andre da Costa brings up a list of reasons. For error 0xC1900101-0x20017 he says refer to error 0xc000021a.

2a. Regarding his troubleshooting steps for error 0xc000021a. He says to wipe the drive and switch from NTFS to GPT. This is incorrect. If this was true, then no one could update from Windows 7 to Windows 10 without a clean install. Beyond which, I updated
my first desktop from Windows 7 to Windows 10 when it was running Windows 7 on NTFS.

2b. Regarding his additional troubleshooting steps for error 0xC1900101-0x20017. He has a number of suggestions, such as disabling peripherals. I tried all of these for both .iso and USB installs. No luck.

Any other suggestions?
