Per MS December update: "Automatically back up your precious folders"?

Per MS December update feature listing...
Keep your Documents, Pictures, and Desktop folders automatically backed up with OneDrive so they're protected even if you lose your PC. On the right side of the taskbar, select OneDrive > More > Settings . On the AutoSave tab, select Update folders and specify which folders you'd like to automatically sync.
First, practically since the origin of Onedrive (when MS called it something else) I've backed up all my important local directories (in addition to other methods). I've yet to understand what's different from my current method and MS 'protected' backup that's been available for some time but is listed with the current update features?

Second, since MS has restricted these protected directories to those that MS initially installs with the OS versus those that a user adds, I've found protected directories (for me at least) useless?

What is it about all this Onedrive Protected 'feature' fuss that I'm missing?

    Mark

    :)

    Vista Automatic Updating Error

    Resolution Suggestion:

    # To resolve this problem, make sure that BITS and the Automatic Updates service are started..

A simple solution but one that works in most circumstances!

    1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

    2. In the list of services, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Properties.

    3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.

    4. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

    5. Right-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service, and then click Properties.

    6. In the Startup type list, click Manual, and then click Apply.

    7. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.
