Windows 10: "Permission denied publickey" When Trying to SSH

I've been using Putty to SSH into my pfSense box. I decided to try using a Microsoft PowerShell window to do the same thing. When I try, all I get back is "Permission denied publickey." I assume that means the Public Key in my pfSense box i.e., the host isn't matching the public key sitting in the id_rsa.pub file under C:\Users\[username]\.ssh folder. Well, I'm sitting here looking at the two keys and they're identical. Again, that very same public key works just fine with Putty. Anyone have any idea what Windows 10 is complaining about and how to go about fixing it?

after ssh user@localhost the password request is comming up. when I use rootme i get "Permission denied. please try again." this for 3 times followed by "Permission denied (publickey, password).



same I get when using ssh root@localhost...



am i using a wrong password resp. how to find out which one is the right one?

 

Permission denied (publickey) on Ubuntu

I know there are already many questions about this but none of them fixes my problem.
I'm trying to connect my ubuntu to my localhost which runs windows10. However, it gave me this error.

username@localhost: Permission denied (publickey).

I tried to use ssh-keygen to create keys on both my ubuntu and windows. That didn't work.
I guessed it has something to do with authorized_key file but I couldn't find that file in .ssh.

 

Windows 10 Pro openssh server permission denied.

I try to setup ssh tunnel which will be used to secure remote desktop session between two computers.

ssh server OS: windows 10 pro ver 1909(2)

I installed openssh server via "add optional features."

When I ssh in I from client with cmd command ssh admin1@ip server replies first with:

but when I enter correct password, server replies with:
"permission denied, please try again" ..."(publickey,password,keyboard-interactive)"

I then created admin2 account on server and tried ssh in again using admin2 credentials and I was able to dialin no problem.

ps: admin1's password has ! character, I also tried to use simpler password but this did not help
