Permissions problem running some troubleshooters from Settings

Hi, if I try to run some troubleshooters from Settings, I receive a permissions error.
If I run the same troubleshooter from the Control Panel, it's fine.

    Example:

msdt.exe is the process in question here, but I've seen the same happen with others.

This started in 1709, and I recently upgraded to 1809- I hope that might resolve this, but no.

It seems account specific, and does not happen in another account.

Others have reported the same symptom:
Windows 10 Troubleshoot cant run - Microsoft Community

    Windows 10 Troubleshooter - cannot access msdt.exe - Spiceworks

I've yet to find a 'solved' report.

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

    :)

  2. Windows 10 infinite restart black screen

The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.

  3. New FF - passwords

    Hi:

If that setting is already enabled, then I suggest as the next troubleshooting step might be Mozilla Safe Mode (not to be confused with Windows Safe Mode)):

Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode | Firefox Help

    • Please report back and let us know the outcome, as it will dictate the next steps.
    • Also: please tell us what AV/AM/firewall programs are you running on this system?

    Thanks,
    MM
