    PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

My desktop PC, running Windows 10 Pro, is getting a BSOD with a message and bar code. The error message says "PFN_LIST_CORRUPT". Windows attempts a repair, restarts, and hangs at the manufacturer logo. I have to do a hard shutdown then start the PC from that state. It appears to boot normally and then, right after everything is loaded, it crashes again. I cannot get the computer to run long enough to do any diagnostics. This particular issue recurs after every Windows update and I have to boot into safe mode, uninstall the updates, then reboot again. Last week I spent 4 hours trying to stabilize the system and then turned off auto-updates. This seemed to work until this morning when the issue returned. I know what steps to take to fix the problem but it is time-consuming and interferes with the work I have to do for clients. Is there a more permanent fix? Seems to be a common problem so it seems Microsoft would want to fix it.

So - is the something I can do to keep this from happening every time Windows is updated? I am also curious about the fact this only happens on my desktop. My laptop and my husband's lap is fine - neither has ever had this problem. Both are running Windows 10 Pro, same version, and my laptop has all the same applications. This leads me to believe there is something specific to my desktop PC but I haven't been able to figure it out. The pc is a fairly new Dell desktop. Perhaps there are other Dell users out there experiencing the same problem. I have posed this question to Dell Support but maybe you folks at Microsoft can provide some insight??

I need to go try to fix the current situation and hope you can give some idea of what may be causing this repeated issue.

Thank you in advance for anything you can tell me that would help prevent this issue from recurring.

    :)

  2. PFN_LIST_CORRUPT Windows 10

    Hi,

The issue you're experiencing with having a blue screen with an error code PFN_LIST_CORRUPT might be due to a variety of reasons, and that is what we are going to find out. To help us identify the cause of this issue, we would need to know the following
    information:

    • Which build and edition of Windows is installed on your computer?
    • What particular activity are you doing on your device before this issue happened?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

In the meantime, we suggest performing a clean boot on your device. Check if the same issue persists even after booting the device into a clean boot. This
link provides further information about how clean boot works and the steps on how to perform clean boot. Make sure to follow the steps under Windows
    10.

We are looking forward to your response.

    Thanks for the reply
I forgot to mention that the same day it happened i updated the nvidia drivers
Today my pc completely froze (I was playing payday 2 when the pfn_list_corrupt and today when it froze)
But since u think it might not be a driver issue, and since it froze today (literally froze, the image and everything) im going to run memtest as u suggested.
I will update in a couple of days after I run the test

    PFN_List_Corrupt

    Hi there,

I have been trying to fix a BSOD error of PFN_List_Corrupt for a few weeks now with my Windows 10 install. It's very random, but annoying. I've run memtest a few times with no findings. I've reinstalled various drivers and no luck. I just recently did a
fresh Win 8.1 install to the SSD and then upgraded to Win 10. I am assuming I need to do another fresh install of 10, but before going through that, I thought I would ask the community if there was an easy PFN_List_Corrupt fix. I've searched around a fair
bit and tried some of the suggested fixes, but so far, nothing has worked.

Verifier.exe puts me in a BSOD loop. Luckily, I had a system restore point and used that.

Here is a link to my three most recent Minidump files:

Microsoft OneDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Online.

    Three different driver crashes here

    - First one, the PFN_List_Corrupt (0x0000004e) caused by ntoskrnl.exe

    - Second one, Nvlddmkm.sys

    - Third one, Driver Verifier BSOD loop caused by aswsnx.sys (my Avast antivirus) as well as ntoskrnl.exe

Anyway, would love any suggestions as to best go about repairing this. Thanks in advance for any help.
