Windows 10: Photo apps broken

Photo app seems to get stuck trying to index anything and everything. I do not want i ti index anything., I want no lists, no compilations, no searches. I do not want it ti try and dig up information. from the further reaches of creation and send it to Microsoft or even to me. I want it to display what I select and NOTHING MORE. It pathetiuc attempyts at intergrated telemetry is crippling bit it and the system so that it cannot do the one thing it has ben created for, display the file I select.

Repair and Restore and such are utter failures as it is what Apps is trying to do that causes it to goo YIPE then shut back down... How do I gut all the bells and whistles that it is still trying to do by uncompromising design, even though it is all turned off in settings?

NO, repairing, restoring, resetting or even reinstalling will not work as the App is doing what it has been asked to do by its designers when opening, which is far too much. Even file explorer logs everything and fires off reports by just trying to open it, an inarguable FACT, which is why a version with telemetry gutted takes 1 second and not 10... Photo Apps is broken as it is trying to do too much just when starting up, how can that be fixed?

Open with another app 'photos'


When you choose photos and select 'open with' it gives a selection of apps. In the list I see the apps but one that looks odd is labelled %1 and has a generic app icon. It's almost as if it's some kind of old or broken program that doesn't exist. All the other programs like paint and photos are in the list as they should be but this is a rogue one. Does anyone else see this?

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

Method 1:

I suggest you to change the Default apps in the setting app and verify the result. You may follow the steps in the below:

• Go to settings and system.
  
• Click on Default Apps and select the appropriately.
  

Method 2:

I suggest you to reinstall Photo app using the PowerShell command
and reinstall using the Windows store. Follow the below steps.

• Open the　Start　menu, type　Windows PowerShell　in the search bar.
  
• Right click on the　Windows　PowerShell　and select　Run as　administrator.
  
• Enter the below command to uninstall the Photo app.
  

• 　　get-appxpackage　　*Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

Photos are opening with Paint instead of Photos app

It's likely that your default application for opening photos is Paint. To change your default program in Windows 10 from
Paint to the Photo app, we suggest that you perform the following steps:

• On the Start menu, select Settings.
  
• Go to System, then go to Default apps.
  
• Select Photos or any app that you like to be the default under
