Windows 10: Photos App and creating a CD/DVD

I would like to create a CD with photos on it. There are a few ways that I already know how to do this, but they all rely on File Explorer (see my other question for why this isn't a solution for me right now). I have some old CD burning software on my computer that works just fine as a stand-alone. But, in the intervening years, it looks like Windows comes packaged with CD burning capabilities (which is great!).

What is confusing is why I can't access the built-in CD burner from within the Photos App. Does anyone know how to combine the sorting capabilities of the Photos App (into Collections/Albums) with creating a CD?

Create DVD of photos -- update

Hi,

Please write to us with the following details.

• 
  Are you able to play/open DVD which you burn on other computer?
  
• 
  Do you get any error when the DVD fails to play on a different computer?
  

Ideally if you create a Data DVD using the steps given in the link below you can play it on all the devices. Follow the steps given under the section

Burning photos to a CD Disc

Hi Jimmy,

We suggest that you use Windows Media Player to burn the images. Please follow the steps below:

• Open Windows Media Player.
• In the Player Library > Burn tab > select
  Burn options.
• Choose Audio CD or Data CD or DVD.
• Insert a blank disc into your CD or DVD burner. (Select the drive you want to use if your PC has more than one CD or DVD drive)
• Search for the items in your Player Library that you want to burn to the disc, and then drag them to the list pane (on the right side of the Player Library) to create a burn list.
• When you're finished with the list, select Start burn.

Note: If necessary, click the Clear list button to remove all items from the previous burn list.

How to import pictures from a CD/DVD

Hi Duane,

To import pictures from CD or DVD on your Windows 10 PC, follow these steps:

• Insert the disc in the CD/DVD drive.
  
• Open the Photos app and click on Import located at the upper right corner.
  
  
  
  
• Once the Import Photos and Videos dialog box is open, select CD or DVD drive.
  
• Click Import and More options to choose your preference.
