Windows 10: Photos, Snip and Sketch Tool Not Saving

I first received an error message when trying to save a cropped image from Photos that prompted I did not have permission to save changes to this type of file. The prompt suggests making a copy, which does not work either.Today I tried using the snip and sketch tool to show the prompt in an email but also returned with a similar error prompt that I cannot save this type of file. Everything worked fine 4 days ago. What happened?

Snip & Sketch

It's the Snipping Tool that's being phased out, not Snip & Sketch. FWIW, I just used the latter tool and was able to paste the snip into a Word (Office 365) document. There was a point in the past when for reasons unknown, opening Word would clear the
clipboard. If you're using an older version, you might want to try opening the document first, before taking a screenshot.

If you prefer to use Snipping Tool, all you have to do (as I suggested earlier) is open the Start Menu and type snip.

 

October Update Snip & Sketch Eraser Tool

You're wasting your time complaining about it (or offering suggestions) here. Use the Feedback Hub, which you can find in the list of apps on the Start menu.

I'm John an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'll be happy to assist you today. I understand you have a problem with Windows Photo and Snip and Sketch not working. Did you made any changes recently? When was the last time it was working properly?
What is your current windows version and edition? Press Start then search Settings, select System then About.

Kindly try the suggested methods below.

**Run the troubleshooter:

Select the Start button, and then select Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot, and then from the list select Windows Store apps > Run the troubleshooter.

**Make sure Photos and Snip& Sketch version is up to date

Open Microsoft Store then Click 3 dots

Select Download and Updates >

Update Microsoft Photos, Snip and Sketch or click Get Updates

**Uninstall Snip and Sketch via Powershell

Press Windows Key+X then select Powershell(Admin)

Copy paste the command below then press Enter

Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.ScreenSketch* -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage

After that, Open Microsoft Store then Install Snip and Sketch

If it doesn't work, Copy paste the command below then press Enter to reinstall Snip and Sketch.

Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.ScreenSketch | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
