Windows 10: Pictures lost correct rotation after moving to Windows 10

I have recently moved to Windows 10 from Windows 7 and I'm now copying all of my pictures from an old device to another. I've noticed, that a lot of the pictures I've moved have been automatically rotated to their original wrong rotation even though I have done a lot of work while rotating them on my old computer. I was using Microsoft Office Picture Manager there on Windows 7 and I'm now using the Photos App on Windows 10. It would be terrible to rotate all of these pictures yet again. What could be the problem of Windows 10 reverting to the old rotation? What other app I could use instead of the Photos App which perhaps wouldn't change the previous rotation?

Correct Directory Location For Pictures Folder

"Now Documents, Videos etc say file location is This PC. But Pictures file location is C:\Users\PeteyBoPetey\Pictures."

If we understand you correctly, the issue is that Pictures doesn't appear in the left panel under This PC. The correct location IS C:\Users\PeteyBoPetey\Pictures. This is only an issue of using Step 8 in the tutorial to add it back to the list. See if this screenshot is what you want to achieve- put Pictures folder back in list on L.

 

rotate a picture

in the Windows 10 pictures file, the picture is correct but when I upload it into a document, it is sideways. How do I rotate it?

 

Quick Access not searching Pictures folder

Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

• I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.

• Then I tried to remove the Pictures folder with option one at Add or Remove Folders from This PC in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials. Even after rebooting, the Pictures folder remained.
• So I tried using option two. Same thing: reboot >> Pictures folder still there.

• Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.

That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.
