Windows 10: PIN Issues at Login

Since this morning I have not been able to log in to my husbands HP all in one computer. Running WINDOWS 10. It was working fine last night but this morning unending frustration.


At first we were stuck on the lock screen and had no request for PIN then somehow I got the PIN screen to appear but it says Something happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to reset your PIN again.

Two options displayed : Setup my PIN or sign in options I tried the setup my PIN also tried the sign in options but no joy there either.


Then got the message "something went wrong

We weren't able to setup your PIN You can try again, or skip this step and setup a PIN later."

Trying again gets me right back to where I started and skip is not clickable.

I'm sure I'm using the correct Microsoft account password because I just used it to log into this forum.


I am not able to do anything except shut down the computer I have tried hard reboot but nothing seems to help.

OSK PIN login on non-touch device

I suggest you to create a PIN for your device and try the on screen keyboard to login to the same.

You may follow the steps below to create PIN protection for your device.

• 
  Go to Settings and select account.
  
• 
  Click on sign in option and Go to PIN option.
  
• 
  Now click on Add and set PIN for login.
  

You can use the same PIN to login to your device using the on screen Keyboard from ease of access option and verify the result.

Unable to login using The login PIN

Thank you for contacting Microsoft community.

I suggest you to follow the below steps to change the pin and check fi it helps.

• In the login page next to “PIN password option”.
• You will find “Other sign in options”, click on it will prompt you for regular password.
• Enter regular password and login to the computer.
• I suggest you to click on the Start Menu
  and select settings.
• Now select Accounts.
• Next select the tab Sign-in option.
• Under the “PIN tab” click on “ADD” option.
• It will prompt you for current pin password and new password, please provide
  new password then apply the changes, restart
  the computer and check if it works.
