Windows 10: PIN & Password query - Windows 10

This question follows on from a previous question I asked.

That was about how I was getting a notification box coming up repeatedly.


Nothing helped but thank you very much for trying Greg.

Eventually, I went to the PIN part of the my account settings & typed in a PIN. It stopped the annoying notifications. ..shrug.. ??

But,

I don't want to unlock my computer via a PIN

I'd much rather a password option which is what I had been happily using until I sent my near new computer away to be repaired for a hardware issue. Upon return the annoying notifications started coming up.

Clearly whilst away being fixed - somebody stuffed around with that setting even though I had provided my password to them.

Having resolved the incorrect notification problem by using a PIN I'd now like my life to go back to the way I like it and not have a PIN but have a password instead.

So, please help me to do this. I don't want to lock myself out of my own computer.

I need to disable my PIN and re-enable my password prompt at login. Can you please help? Step by step instructions would be ideal because I'm slow. lol

I suggest you to go through the below steps and check if it helps.

Follow these steps to set up a PIN on your Windows User Account:

• 
  Press the Windows +S key combination to display the Search box.
  
• 
  Type the word pin into the Search box, then click
  Set up PIN sign-in.
  
• 
  Find the “PIN” section and click the Add button.
  
• 
  Type in the password for your User Account, then click the
  Ok button.
  
• 
  Select and enter a 4 digit numeric pin, then enter it again for confirmation.
  
• 
  Exit the PIN setup utility.
  

From now on you’ll be able to log in to your Windows account by entering your 4 digit PIN instead of your password.



You can change your PIN at any time by following the steps below:

• 
  Press the Windows +S key combination to display the Search box.
  
• 
  Type the word pin into the Search box, then click Set up PIN sign-in.
  
• 
  Find the “PIN” section and click the Change button.
  
• 
  Enter your Windows password, then click the
  Ok button.
  
• 
  Select and enter a new 4 digit numeric pin, then enter it again for confirmation.
  
• 
  Click the Finish button.
  
• 
  Exit the PIN setup utility.

Have PIN for Windows 10 but need Windows password
