Windows 10: Play Surviving Mars Free May 16 to 19 with Xbox Live Gold

Greetings fellow Earthlings! I hope you’re just as excited as we are about building a new home on Mars now that Surviving Mars is free for Xbox Live Gold members this weekend. If you were waiting to try it out, you can start building your first colony on the Red Planet starting at 12:01 a.m. PDT on Thursday, May 16 through 11:59 p.m. PDT on Sunday, May 19.

For the new recruits, Surviving Mars is a survival management game where players must build a colony capable of supporting human life on Mars. Easier said than done considering the Martian atmosphere is hostile to humans and kills anyone directly exposed to it.

The mission begins the moment you land on the Red Planet. Using your drones, you’ll gather resources, discover mysteries, and build domes to house your colonists. Since humans like being able to breathe, we recommend building life support systems capable of keeping the domes filled with breathable air. You’ll also need to figure out how your colonists are going to eat, because no one wants hangry colonists on their hands. If building shelter and growing food were all there was to colonizing Mars, then surviving the Red Planet would be easy… right?

Watch out for natural events, like dust storms that can knock out power generators and wreak havoc on your colony. But don’t forget to take care of your colonists’ mental states too; they each have their own personalities and mental states you’ll need to monitor. After all, you don’t want your chief botanist to develop alcoholism when they’re on the verge of a major discovery. But it’s not all impossible challenges, you can make scientific breakthroughs to benefit your colony and get the edge over the inhospitable forces of Mars.

Since Surviving Mars launched on Xbox One in March of last year, we’ve had 12 major updates, each one adding new features or improving mechanics based on our players feedback. One recent update was the addition of Paradox Mods, our first direct modding pipeline on Xbox One, which gave players the power to create their own custom experience in Surviving Mars. That’s right, players can mod Surviving Mars on Xbox One during the free weekend.

If you want to experience more Surviving Mars, check out our two expansions: Space Race, where players compete with rival colonies for the limited resources on Mars, and Green Planet, which just launched on today, introduces terraforming parameters and allows players to turn the Red Planet green.

xbox gold and live

I have a GOLD subscription and my son is listed as a family member. Yet when he is on the xbox he is not a gold customer and does;t seem to have access to xbox live. any suggestions?

From August 23–27, we’re calling on all prospective soldiers, scientists, adventurers, and oddities: assemble your teams and dive in during the Overwatch free weekend event!If you have an Xbox Live Gold subscription, you’ll be able to play with the full Overwatch roster of 28 heroes––including the newly released Wrecking Ball––across 18 maps set around the globe. You’ll have full access to Quick Play, Custom Games, and a variety of unique play options in the Arcade.

Player progression is unlocked as well, so you’ll be able to level up and earn limited-time Summer Games Loot Boxes. The free period will begin at 11:00 a.m. PDT on Thursday, August 23 and will end at 11:59 p.m. PDT on Monday, August 27 in all supported regions. Instructions on how to participate are below.

Step 1: Turn on your Xbox One and log in to your Xbox Live Gold account

Step 2: Go to the Microsoft Store, then select Search

Step 3: In the search field, type in Overwatch

Step 4: Select Overwatch: Legendary Edition from the search results and then click Free Trial

Step 5: Once the download and installation processes are complete, click Launch to begin!
