Windows 10: Playback of m4a file

Discus and support Playback of m4a file in Windows 10 Network and Sharing to solve the problem; When I click on the file in file manager, Groove music opens.     When I click on the file in file manager, Groove music opens. But file does not play. it allows me to advance the time slider, but playback does not occur. No change in elapsed time occurs.

    The option converting m4a files to wma files in windows 10 is disappeared

    • What app are you using to convert the files?
    I don't use any app to convert the files. I just copy the m4a files from my music folder. Then I paste the m4a files in my android phone drive that connected to my laptop. Then a windows pop-up that shows the option converting m4a files to wma files appears.
    You can see the windows pop-up in below picture. Now the windows pop-up is disappeared.

    • When did the issue start to happen?
    I found this problem last week. However, I didn't convert m4a files to wma files since May, 2017.

    • Were there any changes made to your device prior to the issue?
    I updated windows several times prior to the issue.

    • Have you done any troubleshooting steps so far?
    I haven't done any troubleshooting steps.

    Check the specifications first does the phone play m4a files .



    Music playback file formats: .mp3, .wma, .aac, .aac+, eAAC+



    Is one spec listing where the other spec listing is



    AAC, AAC+, AMR-NB, eAAC+,
    M4A, MIDI Tones (poly 64), Mobile XMF, MP3,
    MP4, RealAudio 7, 8, 10, SP-MIDI, True tones,
    WAV, WMA.



    If you do end up having to convert AAC+ is the best .

    can not play m4a files on 6720 classic

    Right. The specs are not too specific about that.



    If I go to Nokia pages and lookup e.g. 5800 it says

    "Music playback file formats: .mp3, SpMidi, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA"

    And 5800 does play m4a files alright even though it is not stated explicitly.



    And 6720c says the same:

    "Music playback file formats: .mp3, .wma, .aac, .aac+, eAAC+"



    Looking into gsmarena.com under specifications for 6720c:

    "- MP3/WMA/WAV/RA/AAC/M4A music player"

    So they should work on 6720 according to this.



    .m4a files is some variant of AAC-LC in a MPEG4 container, so it would be nice with some more specific details about this in the specs. For example, does aac+ or eAAC+ imply the iTunes flavour .m4a?
