Hello. I would really appreciate some help with getting my active sub-woofer to work with my krk's. I have this sound card and these ports:

    ASUS PRIME Z270-A https://www.quietpc.com/images/produ...orts-large.jpg

I have connected everything right, and it works in linux straight out of the box. Both subwoofer and krk's.
Got my sub in the sub/c port and krk/speakers in the green one. Everything just works in linux.

But in windows i have these two options.
    https://i.imgur.com/m2NOOVZ.jpg

The Digital output sometimes show the bars but no sound in the subwoofer. And i tried the realtek driver from their site and DTS audio followed, but it does not even recognize the orange/sub port and only the green one. Kinda annoying actually. (Windows do show that some port was plugged in, in a message, but nothing more.) I wish windows would just work...

If i check settings the digital output have the orange one, and the speakers also have the orange/sub one but also the green and some other one. 3 total.

Any idea how i get my subwoofer to work? Does win 10 even support 2.1 audio? Speakers and a subwoofer? Might need another driver, but i downloaded from the asus site drivers with my soundboard so that should work, and should not be the issue here...
Why is digital output even silent with the subwoofer, but shows bars moving in windows? As i wrote, linux works fine straight away. Thanks!

    :)

  2. Desktop speakers

I have just bought Logitech Z623 speakers with subwoofer to run on a new HP desktop on Windows 10.

However, the subwoofer does not work and the computer doesn't 'see' the Realtek device and doesn't show it under "Sound, video and game controllers" on the Device Manager. I have tried the scan for new devices and that does not produce a result.

Can anyone help me please. Thanks, Ian

  3. How to get my custom pc to notice my Subwoofer?

It works, I just can't figure out how to get it to see my speakers as a subwoofer. Is it possible to get it to see it as a subwoofer or no?

Hi temp0rary. Welcome to the TenForums @temp0rary

So I assume you still have the realtek driver and software install. In your systray, notification area do you have an icon for the realtek audio manager. If so, double click. Then check out the panels within.

Hi. What should i check for? The sub port is not recognized in it. Only the green port.

  7. That is the window 10 panels. Look in systray for something else that looks like a speaker. I think you are looking for the Realtek Audio Manager.

Thanks Ken. I know what you mean..

But what should i look for to get the sub working? They are at two different "channels" now or what you say.. One is digital output and other one are speakers. I need to combine them or something else? The audio manager have never made a pop up with the sub and only the green port and speakers. Thanks again

edit: The speakers do always work in audio manager. Green port. But the orange is the one i need to get working also. Nice to have a subwoofer with them.

  9. You are using analog. Click on the little arrow beside Stereo in speaker configuration. What options are there?

Awesome. I used stereo. But now i tried 5.1 sound instead even if i have two speakers and a sub.. I got a test tone to sound in windows and audio manager actually. *Wink But tried playing some music and it did not work. Might need to restart the computer.

    Right now i have this:
    Settings = https://i.imgur.com/STPaVtC.jpg

My settings right now = https://i.imgur.com/nKX01LD.jpg

... Worked in the test. Can test a song when i restart. Thanks.

Alright.. I can play around tomorrow. But i got a test signal, so that's good. But should i use 5.1 sound? I just got stereo speakers. Also.. The sub should play when i play music, but it don't seem to do that right now. Thanks for the help. *Wink I'm glad i did get a test signal anyways. Then it can be fixed eventually.

edit: I messed around with the drivers a while ago and made all ports in one driver in speakers also. I could try that one day, and then set it to 5.1... So the ports are under one driver in windows. I'm not sure if the subwoofer should be under digital output. (And speakers under speakers.) Perhaps... I don't know much about it.

Also, the default device and the default communication device, i don't know much about it either.

As far as I know, the Realtek drivers don't support a 2.1 configuration.

The normal use of a 2.1 system is to use the stereo jack. The low frequencies are separated and sent to the sub by the external system. I'm not sure why things are set up that way; they certainly support a separate sub output for 5.1 or 7.1 channel systems.

What sub do you have? If it supports line-level stereo inputs, you can use a splitter to send the stereo signal into it. The sub will mix the signals to mono and use that. You'd control the low frequencies with the low pass control on the sub. That wouldn't be as good as an active crossover, but it would permit you to boost the lows using a sub.

(My own main desktop has a pair of Kef Eggs. They have their own subwoofer output, so that's what I use. They also accept a USB input, so I'm not using any sound card at all.)

Hi. Alright... 2.1 should be default imo. I have a really old subwoofer. *Wink Audio pro active, and i got active speakers connected to the green port.
Here are some old pictures i took when trying to mess around with it, but i did not get far..

https://i.imgur.com/JtL1QH6.jpg = Active sub line in. I have two knobs where i can set the some levels.

https://i.imgur.com/oU4ZyQw.jpg = Back of my computer in the sound card. Grey is to my KRK's speakers.

I don't want to use a splitter. It works in linux right out of the box... I just want to plug it in when i want to use it, and unplug it if i only want my krk speakers..
Just want the sound to go too speakers and the low frequencies going to the sub. Because it's a sub port on the back of the computer. *Wink
Also, i don't know much about splitters, what it is or how much it costs if you are talking about more advanced splitters, etc. I tried some little plastic thingy i got in my draw a while ago that makes one contact into two. Tried plugging in sub and speakers in that but they all made terrible noise. The motherboard should be ready to go. And it is. In linux anyways. Also in windows i assume, with the right settings or tweaks.

edit: Kef Eggs looked nice i googled. But my KRK speakers don't have a sub output.. But it should possible to get this working later on because i got the test signal. So i will play around some day. I might have to update the drivers with windows drivers and make all ports under one driver (speakers), i'm not sure yet.

Also, i might have misunderstood you with the subwoofer. It has line in. I have old connections where you can send sound from the sub to speakers, but then i need to cut cables and to my krk's. I don't want that. Just want the sub port to work with a fresh install of windows.. Or tweak. thnx

The picture of the back of the sub doesn't show enough, but it looks like it has a single RCA input. More modern (?) subs have two RCA, which can be used as a pair for stereo input, or just one used to connect to the subwoofer output of a receiver.

The splitter I referred to is a cheap device; no electronic components, just connectors and wires. Example:

    https://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Speake....5+mm+splitter

You'd plug your powered speakers into one side of that. The other side would go to the sub:

    https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-...=3.5+mm+to+RCA

However, that requires a stereo input to the sub, which it appears that you don't have.

There are other work-arounds that require more expense, but I can't recommend them.

If you find a way to use the sub output in Windows, please report back on it. I'm not optimistic.

    Cue the Rolling Stones:

  15. Well one other thing to check. In your original screen shots you were properties for a device, your speakers. Instead of properties on the first panel click Configure.

Interest reading bobkn's comment that realtek doesn't support 2.1.
