  2. Windows 11 lags / stutters on Desktop (new PC)

    Hello guys

I recently bought a new PC after my old one was overdue.

The new PC is an HP Omen 45L GT22-0629nz

    Specs:

    • Windows 11 Home (22H2, 64 Bit)
    • AMD Ryzen™ 7 5800X
    • 32 GB RAM
    • 1 TB SSD
    • NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3070 Ti (8 GB)
Since I set up the PC whenever I'm on the desktop, windows and all windows applications tend to lag / stutter / work slow.

When try to open up the windows menu (Windows Key), the Windows explorer or applications like "settings" the pc takes a few seconds to open it, then the application stutters or is very laggy. Dragging program windows across the screen stutters also.

In contrary when I open up a game (for example CS:GO) and minimze the game, Windows runs smoothly (everything opens instantly, no stutters, etc.).

The task manager and the graphs tell me that 16% CPU and about 20%-22% RAM is used while the PC is not operating anything.

So the lag / stuttering ONLY occurs on windows itself, not other programs (games, browser, etc.) and only when nothing else is open.

What I tried to fix it:

    • All Windows Updates
    • Driver Updates
    • Optional Windows and Driver Updates
    • BIOS Update
    • GPU Driver Update
    • "Reset-PC" in Windows Options with "Deleting all Data" and "Formatting all discs"
I couldn't figure out what causes the lag so far, maybe I have an experimental version of Windows?

Is it a windows or hardware problem?

PC is out of the box so I didn't change hard- or software so far except dowloading firefox and steam.

If there's not an easy solution I have overseen so far I am considering contacting HP support.

    Thanks for Help

    -Sammy

  3. Games stuttering after upgrading to Windows 11

I have since I have upgraded to windows 11 I have been seeing stutters in my games and large FPS drops. Games run fine for first few minutes and start stuttering only to get normal again for a some time. I know the issue is not in the graphics settings or hardware as everything was running smooth in Windows 10. Even GTA IV has started to stutter. Here's what I have tried:

    • Looking at task manager while gaming to see if any of my GPU/CPU/RAM are reaching their max when stuttering starts in Red Dead Online. Found no behaviour out of the ordinary, RAM was always at 80% capacity with discord and the game open. I don't know if that's the issue.
    • Turning off GameDVR settings from System Registry.
    • Uninstalling drivers and reinstalling newer ones from the custom installation option in Nvidia GeForce Experience.
    • Turning off Memory Integrity.
    • Toning down in game video settings.
    • Installing vulkan renderer for GTA IV.
    • Turning off Real Time security.
    • Turning off Game mode.
    • Turning on high performance mode in control panel and from the manual keys in my Lenovo Legion Laptop.
    • Cleaning the air vents and putting it on an elevation supported by a few poker chips on each corner for better airflow.
    • Turning off every third party process from Task Manager that I could before playing games.
    • Updating Windows 11, eventually updating to 23H2 but the problem still persists.
My PC specs (Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop):

    • 16 Gb RAM
    • 4 Gb Nvidia GTX 1650 Ti Graphics card
    • 4 core Intel i5 processor ( I don't know what gen)

There was no performance issues in my games in Windows 10. I have missed the 10 day mark of reverting back to Windows 10, I don't want the hassle of reinstalling it. I have seen others on Windows 11 having good gaming performance so I think Windows 11 could still be fixable for me. Thank you for reading and attention any reply and suggestion would be appreciated.

    Games Stuttering Windows 11

Hello, I'm Greg, here to help you with this.

    1) Please post a screenshot of Disk Management, which I read like a doctor reads X-rays. Follow the steps here so I can see everything needed to advise you: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/foru...

    2) Let's start with the install itself, since everything else depends on that. Did you unplug all other drives and delete all partitions off the drive before installing?

After install expedite all WIndows Updates from Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates . Install all including Optional, watch for prompt for Restart, then go back to check again until no more are offered.

Then Update your drivers from the PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads webpage for your exact model. While there check for the latest Chipset, BIOS, Display, Sound, Network, USB3, Bluetooth and all other drivers to compare with the version/date installled for that device in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Update any that are newer or branded instead of generic, or work better.

    3) Try these fixes for stuttering in games in Windows:

    4) Go over Windows 11 with this Performance Checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and to find and fix problems:

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back, I will have other suggestions if necessary.
