Windows 10: PnP Microphone Volume Too Low

My microphone 2- USB PnP Audio Device was working just fine until recently, now the volume is very low.

In Sound Settings > Input > Device Properties > Volume if I press on Start Test and speak straight into the microphone I get '[COLOR=rgba215, 57, 0, 1]The highest value we saw was 3 percent[/COLOR]'. For comparison, if I switch to the laptop built in microphone Realtek Audio and run the same test, the result is 'The highest value we saw was 100 percent'.


I don't have the numbers on the same test before the problem started, but the device used to work fine on apps such as Zoom and OBS Studio. Now the recording sounds as if I am 2 metres away from the microphone.

The plug-and-play microphone is an Yanmai SF-777 USB Condenser Microphone for PC/Laptop.


Here's what I have already tried:

• Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers > USB PnP Audio Device > Uninstall device then Reset the PC = No change.
• Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers > USB PnP Audio Device > Update driver = The best drivers for your device are already installed.
• Sound Control Panel > Recording >Microphone Properties > Levels > Default value is 83. Dragging it up to 100 results in a mild improvement = 'The highest value we saw was 19 percent' = Still very quiet.
• Sound Control Panel > Recording >Microphone Properties > Levels > Some forums mention a 'Boost' slider on this page, but I don't have that option.
• Sound Control Panel > Recording >Microphone Properties > Advanced > Uncheck Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device = No change.
• Plugging the microphone to other USB ports = No change.
• Plugging the microphone to a different device MacBook Air = It worked just fine, loud and clear.

I cannot say when the problem started because I haven't used the microphone in a while. For sure Windows Updates were installed in the interval. I'm not sure rolling back a few months worth of updates is a viable solution, so I haven't tried that.


There is a strange message 'Device not migrated' on Device Manager > Audio inputs and outputs > Events screenshot below. Not sure if this is related to the problem or not.





Any other suggestions to get the microphone working loud and clear again?

My microphone volume is very low

My microphone volume is very low so no one can hear me i tried but volume is still low and they can't hear me properly

 

laptop microphone pickup - very low volume since update

Laptop microphone output volume is VERY low since Windows 10 update that I installed 6/10/20. No other changes. Zoom app (and microphone test through Windows) can barely pick up my voice. Noted that drivers for Intel Smart Sound Technology were updated
in this build. (Volume set at 100%) Any suggestions?

See my responses below. Basically I have already tried everything you suggested prior to me making this post. Also I don't understand why a cheap clip-on mic is working while my condenser mic isn't.
