Windows 10: Poor Graphics Display - Lines Going Through Dark Colours

From memory...... something related to ATI Catalyst. A setting in power plans ??? a tick box to check/uncheck.

I'm gonna try uninstalling the graphics driver later on when I get home.

 

Yes, you DO want to check that! Always keep this in mind for future reference. Whenever uninstalling drivers, make sure to delete them completely off your computer. Windows 10 is such an advanced operating system, that it will automatically download whatever is necessary for it to function correctly. Delete the driver software when uninstalling the driver. Yes. Do that. See if this helped out, but also follow up with the other person that is talking to you on here. He seems to have some sort of similar card or so..

 

Just set the status to the opposite of what it is now and see......

Graphics drivers can be a problem. If Windows can not locate one itself then you are going to have to try and download and install a suitable one yourself by using the 'have disc' method. This video shows the idea.

No matter where I look it just says my graphics card is AMD Radeon(TM) R5 Graphics, but I need to know the specific version to download:

I downloaded AMD Radeon Crimson ReLive and that didn't help and I couldn't find ATI settings anywhere.

Just downloaded Speccy - System Information - Free Download and that gave me the same info too.

My computer is an HP with model number 15ab088ca I think (was under the battery but I couldn't find it in windows anywhere).

How bad will I screw up my computer if I uninstall the graphics driver and re-install the incorrect one?

 

An incorrect driver won't allow itself to be installed. You will just get a message saying something like 'incompatible hardware'.

One thing I would have advised from the very beginning would have been to have made a system image that you can always go back to. That way you can try whatever you want with no worries, and if you find a solution, go back anyway and then apply just the one fix rather than having tried/untried various things.

I uninstalled the driver and installed the one on the hp website. I had "generic windows graphics driver" or something like that, which just switched back to Radeon R5 Graphics without me doing anything. I don't know if windows detected something was wrong and re-installed the correct driver or what.

Anyway nothing has changed... lines are still there. Guess I just have to live with them.

 

The generic windows driver is always basic and won't allow anything like normal high resolution images to be displayed in my experience. I can't really suggest anything at this stage I'm afraid... other than for future reference, and that is always have backups you can roll back to. That way you could 'prove' if the issue has just occurred and/or look back at what drivers were installed originally.
