Popping speakers after Windows 10 update

I just did an update and ever since, the speakers in my system are making a repeated popping noise. This is the same noise they always make when the system is first booted up which you are probably familiar with. But normally they make that sound only once on restart and never again. Now it won't stop. The noise persists even when I have turned audio to mute on the taskbar.

    :)

Windows 10 popping sound in speakers

    Hi,

I have the exact same issue and I went through all the steps suggested above but none of them helped. I get the popping sound when any kind of audio is on. Even when external speakers or headphones are plugged in.

Do you have any other suggestions what to do?

    Thanks

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
