Windows 10: Popup ads

My Windows 10 PC is being plagued by small ads popping up in the lower left corner of the desktop. This happens whether the PC is on the Internet or not. Is there any way of preventing this?

I would give the other 3 options mentioned in the first guide:

• STEP 3: Use HitmanPro to scan for malware and unwanted programs
• (Optional) STEP 4: Reset the browser settings to their original defaults
• (Optional) STEP 5: Double-check for malicious programs with Zemana AntiMalware

And I would start with Step 4, resetting your browser
