  2. Random Command Prompt window opens for a split second then closes.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\officebackgroundtaskhandler.exe

    At least this is where it was for me

    "officebackgroundtaskhandler.exe" occasionally opens and closes the command prompt

    The same happens on my computer since several days, under Windows 10 Home edition, with Microsoft Access and some runtimes installed (not full Office). Regularly once per hour, at about HH:55:20. Perhaps since recent Office update just after such major Windows
    update.

    (black empty command prompt wth this header:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\officebackgroundtaskhandler.exe )

    Finally captured using ezvid. Maybe there is much better way to do it. Fortunatelly this splashing window is generated by Office, not malware nor trojan. So I won't do anything,
    let it blink.

    Once I was able to read the name officebackgroundtaskhandler.exe, without capturing that, but forgot
    it.

  4. Popup from Microsoft Office 2016 (officebackgroundtaskhandler.exe)

    Hi oleg2001. Welcome to the TenForums @oleg2001

    I did a quick search and lots of hits. This one I copied. Appears to be a known issue that MS is working on according to web page.

    If you want to stop you should be able to disable in Task Scheduler. Right click on task and then click on disable.

    Before you disable force Office to check for updates. Click on File, then depending on which Office product you have open, either Office Account or Account. Middle of page is Updates. Once updated see if problem still occurs.

    Not sure what the task actually does so you will want to enable task every so often until a fix is received to allow it to do its job.
