Windows 10: Possible connection electricity issues and random shutdown/restarts?

Hello everyone, I'm having some weird computer issues and maybe my thread title means I'm seeing things, but anyway...
I currently have three computers:
- a cheap HP laptop with Windows XP for university, can only cope with a limited number of things but has worked for five years
- an Asus laptop, around 900 euros, much faster, for home use
- A Lenovo laptop, also around 900 euros, very fast but less HD capacity, for my future job as a translator
A month ago, I sent my Asus computer back for repair. Reason: after having worked fine for a year and a half, it suddenly started shutting off randomly and seemingly without any reason and after a reboot, the clock still showed the time it shut down. The EventViewer showed critical kernel-processor-power 37 (7) errors. It did not overheat or work any slower. The laptop came with Windows 8.1, but I updated it to 10 which didn't resolve the problem. It shut off, for instance, during Mega downloads or during copying to my external harddisk. Asus replaced my motherboard which was apparently broken and sent it back. Naturally, they erased the whole harddisk so I had to re-install Windows 8.1. During the installation, it shut off again. I know for a fact it also shut down in other houses.
Because I cannot afford to be without my own computer, I bought a Lenovo laptop which I'm planning to use when I have a job. It worked like a charm for five days in the living room until it suddenly restarted in my room, twice when I was in my university e-mail account and tried to attach a file from my external harddisk and once when I opened IE10. The clock didn't have any problems. I'll paste the EventViewer info below:

Now, all of my computers are set up in my bedroom and most of the problems occurred there. We also ave electricity issues in the house, more specifically in my room, which we haven't sorted out yet. For instance, I can't have my shutters rolled down or up without my surround speakers shutting down and now the electricity throughout the entire flat switches off when my shutters are activated. Also, my new Lenovo computer has major problems connecting to the Internet in my room (it keeps connecting and disconnecting), but my old HP computer doesn't have these issues, nor does it restart/shut down randomly. My Asus computer also did not have internet problems.
I just tried sending the same e-mail in the living room and my computer didn't restart. So my question now is, what does this all mean? My Asus motherboard was broken, so I'm guessing my room can't have caused that problem. But a brand-new laptop restarting after five days? Is this a Windows problem? Could anyone tell me whether electricity issues can cause a laptop which has a full battery to restart/switch off? If not, why do both Chrome and IE10 crash in my bedroom when attaching a file? I'm so confused and quite frankly, getting totally sick of Windows.

N8: calls muted from time to time

Hi puasho, I seem to have the exact same problem as you have described. At random I experience an electric noise during the call, something of an electrical discharge, sometimes very loud so that I can't hear the voice of the caller. Any explanation for
that yet? Is there anything I can do about it? I think it's very annoying. My previous Nokia was a N95 and that sweet phone didn't have this issue.

Electrical surges are random. Who knows if your old phones ever experienced such things? As I said, we would now never know.

I do not like the sound of your electricity supply problems and frankly if activating shutters turns off the whole supply there is a serious wiring fault which is tripping the main fuse. There could be huge voltage spikes on your supply interfering with your computers and maybe frying the components. Certainly you can expect a laptop to be ruined by such spikes. You should use surge protected sockets or extension leads for your computer equipment to protect against this type of thing.

I think your No 1 priority should be to get the electrics sorted before anything else.

 

The other question is how stable your power is where you are using the computers. As for a computer being "cheap", that is anymore not so. Every company has various lines depending on what customers are looking for. That means that regardless of the cost of the device, power quality still comes into question.

 

Okay, newest development. Now my computer restarted after having problems connecting to the Internet. More specifically, I was using both computer and iPhone at the same time and our connection always has problems there. Gonna call our phone company.

 

Rebooting is not a issue with your connection. It is possibly due to the hard drive is crashing, overheating, power quality issues.

 

It sounds like what you need is an AC voltage stabilizer until you can get your electrical problems fixed. It will work to keep the voltage going to your electronic components at a stable 120 V. Better yet, you can get an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) that has voltage regulation built into it.

 

Since they mentioned Euros, they could be in a country that just has a really bad power infrastructure, or town. Common European voltage is 230/250 vAC 3phase 50hz.

 

Actually, nominal voltage for single phase is 220v (phase to neutral/ground) but electrical appliances are marked higher so they can survive power surge when turned on. 3 phase voltage (phase to phase) is 380v nominal. There are some instances where 110vac is present. I don't know if it's still same but 1974 when I lived in Paris, France, apartment had both voltages, 110 and 220 with different plugs.
In any case, main supply (on charger) voltage variations should not influence laptop when battery present. Any problems are most likely internal in the laptop. Many batteries for laptops have integrated regulator which can also make problems.
